About Us

Our family started here in 1936 when my grandpa packed up from Nebraska and moved the family out to Escondido, California. He worked hard picking oranges, grapes, and other produce to make a living for the family. Eventually, he started a wood yard selling firewood.

This tradition of hard work continued with my dad. As a kid, he used to hang around the old Bandy Blacksmith Shop here in Escondido. He'd stop by and watch the blacksmith working on different projects. It was just a regular part of growing up in town back then. By the time I was about 4 years old, that old blacksmith shop closed for good.

My dad learned to cut trees down when my grandpa started a tree clearing business for a man named George Daley. They cleared land in areas like Rancho Bernardo, Escondido, and around the San Diego area for the Daley Corporation. Later, my dad moved into construction and started his own contracting business in 1956.

Here's something that shows what Escondido was like back then - my dad was able to start his own business because Escondido Lumber gave him credit. That's just how the town worked in those days. Small businesses helped each other out. Dad always told me he never wanted to be late with those payments because he really valued what Escondido Lumber had done for him. Those kinds of relationships meant everything.

I learned all about the trades from my dad and others that I worked with for many years. They taught me how to do things right and take care of people's homes like they were our own.

Today, we run Drain Boss. We focus on cleaning and diagnosing drain problems throughout San Diego. We decided to become specialists in this one area because it lets us really know our stuff and have exactly the right tools for the job.

Our family now has some 3rd, 4th, and even 5th generation members still living in Escondido. We understand the local homes and the unique challenges they can have with their drains. Our background in construction helps us understand the whole picture when there's a problem.

We're rooted here in Escondido and we're here to stay. We enjoy helping folks throughout San Diego County with their drain problems.
